Shop Share | Isla & Lily

Something I love about social media is the friendships you forge with other people that you've never met. Jessica Perez is one of those people. She has a heart of gold, makes beautiful babies and is an incredibly talented mama maker.  I have followed her shop, Isla and Lily, on Instagram forever.  She makes the sweetest bows and clothes and I recently teamed up with Jess to start my collection of matching outfits for Natalie and Everett :)

I mean, come on - how adorable is this set?!
So today I wanted to share more about Jess and her shop! I hope you love her and the handmade pretties from Isla and Lily as much as I do!

Tell us a little about yourself and your shop and how you got started.
Back in 2013 when I was pregnant with Isla, we searched local stores and boutiques high and low and couldn't find baby products with patterns I really loved. My mom knew how to sew and decided she would make me some burp cloths! They were so cute I thought, "Why not start selling these on Etsy?!" So we did. While she sewed burp cloth sets, I taught myself to make bows. Eventually my mom taught me some basic sewing skills on the machine and we started making bibs. She got busy and handed all of it over to me. That's when I discovered my love for stretchy knit fabrics! I read my sewing machine manual, watched tutorials and searched high and low for the softest, highest quality fabric with prints that made me smile. The rest is history! We evolve as my children's apparel and accessory needs evolve. Who knows what I'll cook up next?!

What do you make in your shop and how can we find you?

Children's head wear, such as baby hats, knot turbans and bows (both headbands and clips). I'm also starting to offer more clothing pieces like I made for Tori's kiddos. Dresses, hoodies, rompers, leggings and more!

You can find our shop on Etsy: We are also very active on Instagram and Facebook @IslaandLily, where I'm known to offer exclusive discount codes and merchandise.

What is your favorite piece in your shop?
The high low dresses for sure! They are the perfect wardrobe addition for every season. Layer over them in cooler temps and wear them alone when it's warmer outside. They can be dressed up or worn to the park to play.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Art and music. Growing up my dad was very big into both things and instilled them both into me. I've always loved design, patterns and making things with my own two hands and seeing the result. When I choose the fabrics for my shop I have to love them. I'm talking get that giddy feeling in my stomach or I don't buy them. They all invoke a sense of creativity, excitement or joy for me and I hope they do for you too!

Where do you see your shop in the future? What are your aspirations for it?
I would love to see items I've made in local children's boutiques and sell wholesale. Right now I'm not capable of that large scale production, but in a couple years I definitely could be! Just like any retail business I have to do everything I can to stay relevant and retain my customers. I've made some amazing relationships over the years (Tori included) and hope I can continue that in the future as well!

Isla and Lily is now open so head on over and check it out!
