baby #2 | 18 weeks

How Far Along18 weeks!

Size of the BabyBaby W is the size of a sweet potato! Also, interesting to note, baby is also the size of a can of La Croix.

Symptoms/Sleep: I am starting to get some pain in my lower back. It comes sporadically, usually at night, and goes away with some stretching.

Sleep is getting better. I have a feeling this will be short lived though, given the aforementioned lower back pain. I can still sleep on my stomach though so I am going to keep that up until I literally cannot.  I am having the craziest pregnancy dreams. The other night I had a dream that B and I got into a fight because I spent $75 on Old Navy flip flops (is that even possible?!) and so he put them all in the oven to ruin them.

Bump/Weight Gain: So I weighed myself and I am up 13 pounds. I keep reminding myself that this is still 11 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight with Natalie which helps me to feel ok.  I am starting to have a more obvious baby bump depending upon what I am wearing, which is nice, but like I said, it depends on what I am wearing.

Cravings/Aversions: I am still craving all the smoothies and shakes, pineapple and watermelon. I had a chicken cesar wrap from Nando's on Friday and it was everything. Yum.

Gender Predictions: BOY! We had our name picked out and then we almost changed the whole dang thing this week. B was seconding guessing our middle name choice so we scrapped it and came up with a new one. And, to be honest, I think I like it a whole lot more!

Big Sister: She has been doing really great this week.  I am looking forward to taking her shopping for baby brother things in a few more weeks. I want to let her pick things out for him, perhaps even let her pick out his coming home outfit. I want to make sure she feels super included in this big change.

I am starting to put together some ideas for big sister gifts, from both us and the baby.  B and I have always said that we want to get her one of those power wheels cars when a sibling arrives and we totally know that's excessive BUT I don't know that I care. I think she would really love it and her birthday falls during a time of year that it really wouldn't get much use for months, so a summer sibling seems like a great time for it :) [Yep, that was me justifying this idea to myself as well.]

Miss Anything: Seasonal summer fruit. Watermelon is just not the same right now.

Best Moment: There have been so many in the last week.  Finishing up big sister's room is definitely at the very top of the list. I could not be happier with how it turned out.  My order of maternity clothes coming was a very close second. I still need to get some shirts but it is helping to make the mornings easier which is a HUGE bonus. Target has the cutest/softest/most comfortable boat neck shirts in store right now that I plan to stock up on in a larger size which means they will work throughout more of my pregnancy.

Can't Wait For: Watermelon to be in season. Baby brother's room to be complete. My parents visit in a few weeks. There is so much to look forward to!
