I mentioned in a recent Friday Five post and Natalie's birthday post that I absolutely adored working with Amanda from Paper Supply Station to come up with decor for Natalie's 3rd birthday party! That being said, I wanted to share a little more about Paper Supply Station with y'all :)
Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
I'm Amanda, wife, mother, creator, coffee aficionado. I enjoy gardening and long weekends at the cabin with family & friends. I've been married to my husband for 10 years and after 6 years we finally had our first child, Finley (Finn), who is now four. He is extremely helpful, and a very kind, nurturing soul. Two years later we had our daughter, Josephine (Joie). She keeps us on our toes! We also have 2 French Bulldogs, Stella & Stan and 6 chickens.
What is the name of your shop and how did you come up with it?
Paper Supply Station. I came up with the name because I wanted to be an all around paper goods store and I needed a name that was easy for people to know what I was providing. My passion is definitely party supplies, but as I got going, I learned there is a real need for certain kinds of card stock that is easy to use, and made particularly for crafters using cutting machines. So I am an all around paper supply store!
What do you make in your shop and how can we find you?
I make anything party related and am constantly working on expanding! Currently I have about 500 items for sale from banners, signs, photo booth props, cupcake and cake toppers, balloons, confetti, washi tape, cardstock, paper straws, cards and gift wrap supplies. Within the next month or two, I should have close to 2,000 items available. I'll be expanding to garlands, tissue paper garland, can coolers, sparklers, candles, photo backdrops and lots of customizable items geared towards weddings and larger events - so stay tuned!
Currently Etsy has my largest product availability and variety, but you can also find me on Amazon Handmade, Ebay and www.PaperSupplyStation.com
Also on Instagram @papersupplystation and my SUPER new Facebook page.
How did you get started?
Before I opened Paper Supply Station, I was doing hair, but the hours just didn't work for my family. I felt like I was missing out on all these experiences with my kids, and I didn't want that anymore. At the end of 2015, I decided to leave the hair business. I really took a lot of time thinking about what I wanted out of life and what would make me happy. I've always really enjoyed planning parties and the joy of families coming together to celebrate. And so Paper Supply Station began. It started small, with little handmade confetti and just a few items for sale and had just evolved since then!
What is your favorite piece in your shop and how did you come up with it?
Oh man! I love all my products! Donut theme parties are super in right now and I have a banner that says "DONUT GROW UP". That's definitely one of my favorites right now! It looks so cute when used in a 1st birthday smash cake (or donut!) photo shoot!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from current trends. I'm always watching for new party themes and looking for ways I can provide something unique for that theme. Something that will get people laughing and talking. The special details of a gran theme are what keeps me going!
Where do you see your shop in the future? What are your aspirations for it?
I'd love to be the one stop shop for anything and everything party related! I'm also looking at ways I can provide raw goods for fellow crafters. I really enjoy supplying both raw and finished goods.
Any advice for other small businesses or momtrepreneurs?
Go for it! But put your heart and soul into it. When it's high, stay humble and when it's low, stay hopeful. Take the time to get great pictures - it makes a huge difference! And NEVER, EVER forget what is feels like to be the buyer. Be kind to your customers, listen and understand them. Go the extra mile to not only be a kind person, but a kind, respectful seller. Respond to messages quickly, keep your turn around times fast and provide products you feel good about.
What are some of YOUR favorite shops and small businesses?
I love shopping on Etsy and supporting other small businesses! Jewelry and planner stickers are my weakness! My two favorite shops right now are Iron Lamb Jewelry and Emma And Me Stickers.
Iron Lamb Jewelry works with natural crystals and stones and incorporates them in a simple, bohemian style that is beautiful! Everything I've purchased from her shop has been shipped super fast and had absolutely amazing craftsmanship!
Emma and Me Stickers is a newer planner sticker store that I found when searching for businesses local to me. Her stickers are super cute and she uses responsible sticker paper - which is a must for me! Her combination of quality and quantity makes her shop a ridiculously good deal!
