seven months!

Age: Seven months!

Weight: For the next two months, I won't really be sure.  We don't own a scale (because the last thing I need in our house is a scale), so until Natalie's 9 month check-up, we won't know for sure what the little chunk weighs.  I can say that she has to be at least 20lbs because she was 19lbs 10oz at her six month check-up.

Food: The little miss is quite the eater.  She loves trying new things and has quite the appetite.  If I had to take a guess, I would say that cinnamon oatmeal with pears is her current favorite.  So far she has tried: spinach, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, grapes, plums, bananas, apples, pears, raspberries, watermelon, peaches. I have been trying to keep track of everything she has tried, but sometimes I am not so sure I have succeeded.

When I wrote about the transition to solids, I had no idea what I was in for!  Natalie doesn't quite follow the recommended guidelines, but what we do works for us and that is what matters to me.  She has breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack and then dinner.  She keeps a good schedule and that's more important to me than following the norm.  Pretty soon apple juice will be become part of our normal routine and I am fairly excited about that.  (Hello cost savings on the ready-made formula!)

Milestones/Big Moments: We have had so many over the last week and change.  She had her first taste of sand and ocean water.  She loved the beach!  She went in the pool for the first time when we were down the shore and most importantly... we are OFFICIALLY crawling!  At first, she would get herself up on her hands and knees and then wasn't quite so sure what to do next so she would just lunge forward.  It was adorable.  On Father's Day, she decided to surprise us by putting it all together. It was like she had known all along and was just waiting for the right time to show us her newest trick.  She has also started pulling herself up on so many things: pant legs, the Bumbo chair, the jumper, the bumpers on her crib...yep, she has been pulling herself up on the bumpers on her crib.  A couple weeks ago Brandon and I lowered her crib and I am honestly surprised that I did not cry.  My baby is growing up too fast!

I absolutely adore these two together :)
Natalie's Favorites: She loves playing guitar with Brandon.  I absolutely love watching her try to figure out how to play by herself.  She is so smart and learns things so quickly that it is only a matter of time until she can really strum a bit.  She also loves to pull little bity baby hairs - serious OUCH.  She loves to wave to people and is such a ham for the attention. In typical small human fashion, her favorite things to play with are probably baby wipes and boxes.  I do not understand why we buy her anything else.

Looking Forward To: Natalie's second trip to Jersey but her first visit to her grandparent's house.  Gary and Lori are holding a "sip & see" type event so the Jersey side of the family/friends can meet the little girl.  It seems crazy that so many people still have yet to meet her but life has been so busy that it really shouldn't seem that crazy.  I am also really looking forward to my parents visiting.  My mom is coming to stay with us to watch Natalie for the final stretch before she goes into daycare, but it was a surprise that my dad is going to be here for a week.  I cried when I found out because I was so excited.  Since my parents moved, it's never really certain when I will get to see them next so this is something that I am seriously excited about.
