Six Months!

Our little beauty if a half year old!  I cannot believe how fast her first year is going!  Her first birthday is going to be here before we know it!

Age: SIX months!

Weight: Today we had the little girl's 6 month check-up.  She is weighing in at 19lb 10oz putting her in the 97th percentile.  More impressive is her height - 28 inches tall!  She is in the 99th percentile for height!  The doctor said she is quite impressive with how vocal, alert and strong she is.  I love hearing that.  On top of all of the compliments, the little miss took her shots like a champ.  Such a proud mama today :)

Food: The little miss is really starting to master the art of eating off a spoon.  I love the days that we try new foods.  She has so much personality and she is really responsive to the different flavors and textures.  So far we have tried peas with mint, squash, peaches, sweet potatoes, green beans, watermelon and grits.  She loves watermelon which makes sense because I ate a TON of watermelon when I was pregnant.  At the peak of my watermelon eating, poor Brandon was probably cutting up 4-6 watermelons a week. It was out of control. She seemed to really enjoy the peas with mint.  I loved that it had some extra something special and wasn't just peas.  I have done a lot of reading about seasoning food for babies to expose them to more and really love the idea of it.  We also let Natalie gnaw on some pickles and lemon rinds.  The lemon was not nearly as entertaining as I had been hoping.  She loved it!  Not a single grimace.

Milestones/Big Moments: The little miss celebrated her first Kentucky Derby this month - one of my favorite days of the year.  I cannot wait until next year when we can really get her dressed up and hold a little Derby party of our own :)

We made the command decision to stop swaddling Nat before bed.  The older she gets, the harder it is going to get and she is waking up several times a night to be re-swaddled.  Now that we have stopped swaddling her, the little miss is starting to roll over and sleep on her stomach.  It cracks me up to roll over and check the monitor and see her sleeping the same exact way that Brandon sleeps: on her stomach, left arm down, right arm up and right leg bent. It's adorable.  Sometimes she is so much like her daddy it kills me.  This whole not swaddling thing has led to almost two weeks in a row of not getting up for middle of the night feedings.  Not too shabby.

Natalie's Favorites: She loves her jumper.  She is such a good little bouncer. She loves her highchair toys and they have made dinner time far more enjoyable for the grown-ups. This month's favorites will be up by the end of the week :)

Looking forward to: Our first family vacation in June!  Brandon and I will be taking Natalie to Ocean City and I cannot wait to get away with my little family for some fun in the sun!  33 days to go :)
